Whats the weather like?
In chilly northern climes, November to February or March is generally dark, grey and cold. Vitamin D levels plummet as the sun hides. Winter is the Algarve is generally mild, with temperatures averaging 15ºC and with many beautifully sunny days - perfect for golfing and walks on the beach. Daylight hours are longer too. Of course, there are no guarantees with the weather, but chances are that it is better in the Algarve than where you are!

What is there to do during the winter in the Algarve?
So much! Golf is one of the big attractions in the area with over 30 world class courses to choose from. The beautiful natural scenry and great trails and pathways along the coast and the Ria Formosa natural park are made for biking and hiking holidays. it's easy to hire out bikes during your stay. Birdwatchers flock to the area too as the Algarve is a favourite rest area for migratory birds. There are several great tennis clubs and padel courts in the area for fun games or to brush up your skills with some coaching. Take a boat trip out to sea to look for dolphins or do some fishing. Or simply hop in your hire car and explore. The beaches are beautiful any time of year, and off peak, they are very quiet indeed.
Are there restaurants and bars open in the Algarve during the winter?
Yes. While some restaurants and bars will close for a few weeks over the course of the winter, there is always a great choice of places to eat and drink in the Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago areas. Even the beach restaurants, such as Izzys are open for beachside lunches in the sun and Sunday lunch is a great option at many restaurants such as Parrilla Natural - it goes on much longer than lunch, often with life music too.
