Transport in the Algarve's Golden Triangle: how to get around
When it comes to transport and getting around the Algarve's Golden Triangle, not everyone deems it essential to hire a car. There are plenty of options to choose from when planning a day trip or if walking isn't ideal.
As lovers of the region, we absolutely encourage everyone to get out and explore. So, here are a few tips to help you get to where you need to be!
The best options for travelling around the Algarve

Car Hire: If you are hiring a car, then we always recommend VDL Car Hire! Be sure to always carry your driving licence and documents provided by the hire company. Children under 13 are not permitted to be in the front seat, while the A22 or Via do Infante is a toll road. Usually, your car hire agreement will have stated if these charges were included in your agreement or are to be paid separately. Personal ID documents, such as Passport or driving license, will be required.
Uber/Bolt: The company now operates in the Algarve. Trips can be booked up to 30 days in advance, and Uber can also be arranged for pick-up at Faro Airport. Due to the same app features being used as your home country, such as safety and GPS tracking, it's a familiar and reliable way to get around. For those who prefer Bolt, the same applies! You can use the app as normal to get to where you need to be.
Taxis: Taxis are a safe, easy and relatively cheap way of getting around. SandyBlue’s preferred partner is Pleasant Tours. They can do taxi transfers within the resort plus to and from the airport.

Shuttle Bus: Vale de Lobo and Vale de Garrao have shuttle buses to take you around the resort. The service can be used for journeys outside the resort, including to restaurants and local attractions.
