SandyBlue: Running for ReFood!
Here at SandyBlue, we've taken many steps towards a sustainable and ethical approach of operating. Now, it's time to amp up those steps...with a marathon!
That's right, our very own Joe Mountain will be running a marathon in aid of ReFood. He will be joined by J, our good friend from one of our favourite places BJ's Oceanside. Taking place on the 26th of March, this is a great cause, especially after a very hard year for so many people.
What is ReFood?
Starting in 2010, ReFood has grown from one centre covering 30 food sources in a seven-block area to 25 centres and 900 food source partners all over Portugal. Like SandyBlue, the movement is powered by community spirit and a desire to help those who need it.
ReFood operates for the community, working without salaries and avoiding any and all costs that do not serve its mission. ReFood’s low cost and high productivity model improves the quality of life of people in need while strengthening the social fabric of the local community.
Joe and J are doing a great (and brave!) thing for this movement, so we're a proud team right now. Although, Joe is used to his ultra-running by now so we're sure it will be a walk in the park!
A great cause
Working in the Algarve means Joe and his running buddy J, have seen just how many families have been affected by the pandemic in the last year. With businesses having to close, it left more people unemployed and therefore reliant on food banks. It is a time for rebuilding and this marathon is just one way we want to help.
Show your support!
Our challenge has since been featured in The Portugal News, so we're happy the word is spreading! Help us to raise awareness and money over on our JustGiving page. We're looking forward to the 26th, and thanks for all the support!
