SandyBlue in the news – standing in support of the Algarve!
SandyBlue’s ‘Portugal Resident’ article series continues, and for our latest piece we just had to discuss the hot topic on everyone's lips.
As of today, Portugal still remains excluded from the UK’s safe travel list. While discussions continue toward a positive outcome eventually, is it too little too late? Here in the Algarve, we have guests who are able to obey the two-week quarantine when they return – and they are all singing the praises of the approach to safety in the region.
Here’s a breakdown of the full article...
Why the airbridge decision was wrong
There’s no doubt in our minds...this decision was quite a shocking one. Not just to ourselves and the country, but to people who were confident enough to travel to the Algarve this year. While many tourists are choosing to adhere to the quarantine rules on their return home, not everyone can commit to it.
We’ve said it time and time again...the whole country has been a shining beacon in Europe throughout this pandemic. Everyone looking in from the outside can attest to that. In the article, we outline all of the positive developments we’ve seen and why we want this to continue.
Standing strong for the Algarve
The Algarve has seen a quieter summer so far this year, which is understandable. However, this decision has affected the potential we had to make this a summer to remember. With lower cases than other countries that were featured on the UK’s safe travel list, the Algarve is ready to welcome tourists back.
In our ‘Portugal Resident’ piece, we mention the rise of the ‘safecation’ and how it’s important to extend marketing influence further across the world. This will attract new markets and open the Algarve’s welcoming arms even wider!
Adapting to a new world
We conclude this article with ways we can use current situations to attract tourists in different ways. For example, the beaches of the Algarve are known for their beauty and expansive scenery. With less people visiting them, this in fact makes them even safer than they were before.
There are so many things we can offer guests in our villas too, meaning they have the choice between exploring the Algarve or remaining at their villa. There are many ways in which we can adapt to this new way of travel...and they can help rescue the Algarve’s fantastic tourism.
