Over €13,000 raised for Refood Almancil!
We recently shared the exciting news that our founder, Joe Mountain, would be taking part in a marathon alongside good friend J from BJ's Oceanside. Now that they have completed the challenge, we thought we would share an update.
This marathon was the perfect opportunity to make a difference, particularly after a difficult year. Many people found themselves without access to basic food necessities, which is where Refood Almancil come in. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that those who had nothing, were getting the food they needed.
Joe and J thought it was a great charity to represent and raise money for. Let's just say, they really smashed their target...
How much money was raised?
The donation page is still open, so we don't have a final total just yet. However, Joe and J set out to raise €5,000...which soon turned into €10,000. As of now, the total exceeds €13,000 - what a result.
It's always great to hit a fundraising target, but to smash it this much is amazing. To all the kind people who contributed, the whole team thanks you.
How did the run go?
The duo set off just before 9am on March 26th, to do two laps of the nine mile circuit around the airport. While Joe is a seasoned runner, this was J's first marathon...extra kudos to you, J!
Even in the warm Algarve weather, they didn't give up and also hit their desired target time. For pictures and words from Joe and J themselves, read the latest article from the Portugal Resident. We are very happy that they have featured this story and we're sure it will inspire more people in the region to make a difference.
