Vilamoura Beaches

You can’t visit Vilamoura without spending some time on the renowned Praia da Falesia. It is one of the longest stretches of beach in Portugal and despite the numbers of tourists it attracts, it never feels crowded due to its sheer size. There are plenty of clubs and restaurants to enjoy here, plus paddle boarding and jet skiing.

To the east of the marina is Praia da Marina (or Praia da Vilamoura). Here you will find miles of golden sand, beach side restaurants and plenty of water sports on offer. If you want to stroll around the marina, grab an ice cream and explore the lovely designer shops.

Award-Winning Golf

Vilamoura is home to a whopping six championship golf courses - all of you keen golfers will have to try all of them! The golf courses include the Victoria Clube de Golfe, which hosted the World Cup in 2005 and the Grand Masters in 2007, and the Old Course.

You can also try the par-72 Dom Pedro Millennium Golf Course, which is often famed as the golf course that gave the Algarve such an acclaimed golfing region. See for yourself and perfect your swing in this famous golf course.

Fantastic Tennis Courts

For those of you who love tennis, there is the Vilamoura Tennis Academy which has 10 Tennis Courts and 2 Paddel courts. The academy offers a large range of packages for tourists, so be sure to check it out.

Unbeatable Hiking and Cycling Routes

Vilamoura is a popular choice for those with an active lifestyle. There are lots of trails to explore, with a public bicycle system and cycle lanes along most of the major roads. There is also a dedicated outdoor exercise area running right through the centre of the main Avenida.

If you really want to get right into nature, there are plenty of paths off the beaten track. Coming from the Millennium Golf Course towards the centre of Vilamoura, there are lots of sandy trails that lead you in the direction of Falesia beach. It’s a great chance to spot local wildlife and you will eventually hit the beach. Walk across the bridge to get beautiful views of the sea.

For a different kind of activity, the horse riding centre on the outskirts of Vilamoura caters for everyone from beginners to advanced. It’s great fun for the whole family or for couples!
