Quarteira Beaches
Quarteira beach stretches from Vale de Lobo along the Quarteira town section of the beach. There is a vibrant beachfront promenade, giving a real summer vibe. The beach is easily accessible to everyone, where you can hire sunbeds & parasols for approximately €12 a day.
To the west of the fishing harbour is another sandy beach, Praia de Vilamoura. This leads to Vilamoura’s famous marina, where there is plenty to do including boat trips. Praia do Cavalo Preto is also close by, with beautiful cliffs full of history!

Due to the beachfront vibe, you will be truly spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat. There are so many places, even we find it hard to narrow it down. A holiday in the Algarve wouldn't be the same without tasty local cuisine. Here are a few choices...
- Rosa Branca: Enjoy the view of the sea and dine on fresh seafood with a glass of wine!
- BJ’s Oceanside: One of our favourite places, BJ’s Oceanside is right on the beach and offers fresh seafood that you really have to try. It’s always lively too, with live music and lots of dancing.
- O Búzio: With indoor or outdoor dining, the seafood and pasta dishes are a great pick!
- O Arco: Traditional and full of Algarve charm, the food here will not disappoint.
- Cais Wine & Tapas Bar: Who doesn't love tapas? A hidden gem with delicious food!

Things to do in Quarteira
You won't be thinking about what you can get up to for very long. There are so many activities to enjoy in Quarteira.
Award-winning golf
Following a short drive to Vale do Lobo, you will find the two predominant golf courses - the Royal Golf Course and the Ocean Golf Course.
A 13 minutes drive will take you to the par-72 Dom Pedro Millennium Golf Course, which is often famed as the golf course that gave the Algarve such an acclaimed golfing region.
Beachfront fun
Due to the beachfront setting, there will be plenty to do right on your doorstep. There are rental agencies in Quarteira where you can also hire bikes, paddle boards, canoes & scooters so you can explore more of the area if you want. Numerous boat tours depart from the nearby Vilamoura Marina.
Playing petanque, beach volleyball & football in the park & playing chess in the plaza are all popular pastimes here. Make sure you check it out!
Hiking and cycling
Quarteira is a great choice for people who would prefer not to hire a car. There is so much to see on foot, or you can use one of the many rental services for a bicycle.
Passeio das Dunas is a particular highlight, providing a beautiful setting for a peaceful walk.
Explore with the family
Holidays are all about making memories. If you fancy making a splash, make sure you visit Aquashow on the outskirts of Quarteira – the best water park in the Algarve! In the summer, there is also a little tourist train that takes you around the area and onward to Vilamoura. On Wednesday the train passes local markets.
For children there are several parks with play areas surrounded by parkland & cafes - great for parents who want to relax while the kids make new friends!
